 The Company

Picture
Atlas Capital is a private, independent and locally owned wealth management company. We are a Registered Investment Advisor with the state of Colorado. The Registered Investment Advisor designation was the perfect fit for our goal of giving clients the confidence that our interests are aligned with theirs and that we have no incentive to place them in high expense funds or to create high turnover in their accounts. We cater to those looking to take no more risk than they need to in order to achieve their financial goals. We also seek to diversify our clients' wealth and invest in companies and countries with solid fundamentals and low debt.

The company was started by Doug Carey, CFA with the idea of taking his wide array of knowledge and experience in the financial markets, as well as economics, and applying it more locally. We feel that in today's era it is no longer good enough for an investment advisor to simply understand how to execute trades and search for funds that meet your critieria. After the housing market and stock market collapse in 2008 it has become apparent that a broad range of knowledge and experience in both economics and finance is necessary for an advisor to truly help clients understand the risks and potential rewards involved with their investments. Atlas Capital has just that experience and knowledge.

The CFA Designation
The
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is considered by most in the finance world to be the most rigorous of all certifications in the industry. No financial certification requires more studying time or covers more material. In fact, The Economist magazine has labled the CFA "the gold standard" among investment analyst designations. Few investment advisors have gone through the rigorous three year process of attaining the CFA charter. Over half of all CFA candidates fail the tests or drop out altogether due to the immense amount of material that is required of them to learn. The curriculum includes these topic areas:

-Portfolio Management and Analysis (asset allocation, portfolio risk, performance measurement, etc.)
-Analysis of Investments (stocks, bonds, options, futures, derivatives, real estate, etc.)
  -Ethical and Professional Standards
  -Financial Reporting and Analysis
  -Corporate Finance
  -Economics
  -Quantitative Methods
  -Statistics
